Ever wanted to have a model for which the readily available kits in the market where old and crude, and by the time you invested a lot of time trying to bring the kit to current standards somebody else came and released a new mold of it?.
Yeah… this is a lot like that.
A few weeks ago when I decided I couldn’t wait for somebody to come with a new mold Mirage IIIE in 1/72 (but pretty much applies to any scale now) I took my Heller Mirage III and started bashing it up and down, re-scribing and trying to improve all its short-comings.
What do you know, HP came out and released their new mold kit with a gazillion options for pretty much any and all main descendants of the Mirage IIIE in all recced panel glory (check Drewe Maton’s detailed review on his blog). Anyways, I was way to deep in this project to back up now, so I’ll just follow through.
My original intention was to depict a Malvinas/Falklands Argentinean Mirage but I’ll save my Condor Decals Falklands options for the HP Mirage IIIE. This one will be a late Mirage IIIEA in all gray air-superiority scheme in a very late CAP load (AIM-9P + 1300 Lt tanks, no Matra 530s).
I hope you like what you see here, and if you do any comments will boost my stamina into finishing this pup (pun most definitely intended).
