Club de Modelismo La Plata Model Expo and Contest News by José Teixidó - September 15, 2013April 18, 20160 Last weekend, in a La Plata (56Km away from Buenos Aires, Argentina) the local La Plata scale model club hosted their traditional yearly contest. While weather didn’t really help, the most hard core Argentine modelers from near and afar convened together for a couple of days of camaraderie in a rather cozy environment, filled with vendor tables and great models.Among my personal favorites for this edition are Pablo Curone’s 1/72 Gloster Gladiator. This is a Modelex kit, a local re-edition of the ancient Heller kit. This is the scale modeling equivalent of pushing together a hulk of carbon until you end up with a neatly cut diamond. Another of my favorites was a scratch-built Hellboy figure. I can’t remember the name of the modeler, but it was a very well done piece. In 1/144 mention worthy is the work of another known local Braille Scale modeler, Pablo Aguilar, who presented an F-86 Sabre in Spanish markings which was very well done. Last but not least, I never get tired of this model. It is Sergio Bellomo’s Truck/Komet Dio in 1/72. It has complete gun and interior detail. Amazing stuff. All in all, a great weekend and a nice opportunity to meet all the colleagues from the local model scene.
